For the first time, a law enforcement agency in Seminole county is organizing an event specifically to reach out to the Hispanic community.

Saturday, the Sanford Police Department joined dozens of families with food, face painting and even a little bit of soccer, in hopes of building a stronger relationship with this community.

"We have a huge population of Latinos in this community and we want to let them know that we’re here for them, we’re present that they can call on us whenever they need it," said Officer Sanjuanita Justiniano, Sanford Police.

According to the 2010 census, about 20 percent of the population in Sanford is made up of residents who have Hispanic origins.
